Ball out!
Anytime I get invited to a ball, I almost always go!
When you think of it, other than movie stars and folks in politics, the average person doesn't get many opportunities to attend black tie affairs: The standards are high school formals, like proms, then it's basically your wedding or the weddings you are asked to be in.
With that, at least once a year, I find myself in need of a gown, but not having one.
*style note:
when invited to wear black tie, women are expected to wear a gown. A gown is defined as hitting the ground. (I was told by a stylist friend, it is a major faux paus to NOT wear a gown at a black tie affair; especially since as adults you'll likely attend to mix and mingle with potential relationships that you'll need to take you serious in the future. And remember, first impressions are the strongest ones!)I attended the Democratic Community Inaugural Ball at the Ritz Carlton.
I don't own a proper gown...so I borrowed it.
FYI...every event I attend I am photographed. I'm always tempted to buy a few to keep in my wardrobe, but it is better for me to borrow from a stylist or a friend.

The gown was too big...so I got creative and found a silver rope in my arts box and cinched my waist.
