We were going to do a write up on this, but we love what The Daily Makeover did. So we're sharing the love with a backlink to their site and reposting their tips here.
Hair Mistakes that Make You Look Older
Heidi was a little Swiss girl — and you’re a grown woman. A too-juvenile hairstyle like model Candice Swanepoel’s halo braid (or pigtails) just highlights the fact that you’re not a kid anymore — and who wants to be? Adulthood is way more fun.
On the other hand, overbleached hair like Lindsay Lohan’s not only washes out your complexion, it damages your hair. And nothing’s more aging than dried out split ends.
Dyed black hair like Catherine Zeta Jones’s can look fake and emphasize skin’s ashen tones (our complexions get yellower with age, which is why blush is so helpful in creating a fresh-faced look). Depending on your skin tone, a deep mahogany brown might be more flattering.
Leighton Meester can get away with this texture thanks to her 20-something baby face, but flat-ironed hair can look too harsh on a more mature face (or even on young women with angular bone structure). Waves, on the other hand, add a flattering softness to the features.
If you don’t have access to Marion Cotillard’s Dior couture wardrobe or inborn Parisian cool (and who does?), don’t even try to pull off a style this done up. The stiffness and vintage feel can add years to your look. For a more youthful updo, tone down the volume and let a few loose pieces and flyaways soften the look.
Unkempt texture like Helena Bonham Carter’s can give you a frazzled appearance. If your hair is naturally curly, make sure it’s getting enough moisturizing TLC to stay in shiny, healthy condition
A too-heavy fringe like Sophia Bush’s closes off your face and makes your eyes look smaller. (Luckily, she’s only 30). Instead, choose a more broken up, feathery fringe that lets your pretty face show.
