Dani: Hey
Caitlin! You have got to be the busiest kid I have ever met, hands down, so
thanks for taking a little bit of time to do this interview.
Caitlin: Oh, no problem Dani. Anything for you
Dani: When
we first met, I was so impressed by all you have tackled and
accomplished at age 15. And then you
started modeling, and of course, it turns out you’re great at
that too. Talk to me about before and after – do you think
modeling has helped your self-image?
Read on for more...
Caitlin: I think
that I have always had good self-image, but I think that now that I model I
carry myself differently. Before high school I was an awkwardly tall girl with
big feet and an odd sense of style. After entering the fashion industry, I figured
out how to use my body, be elegant, and how to dress fabulously everyday.

Dani: Being
a teenage girl is not easy. I imagine it’s probably
even harder now than when I was young, with all the available social media
flooding us with images of the beauty “ideal”. How do you
deal with social pressure with regards to how you look?
Caitlin: Well, there is a quote by the late Oscar de
la Renta that I repeat in my head as I walk down the hallway: "Walk like there’s three men behind you". By repeating this, I can
ensure that I am strutting wherever I go with my head high. Society may have
its own ideas of beauty, but I have my own look and style, and I rock it.

Dani: Didn’t you
participate in workshop for teen girls? Would you tell me about it, and how you
mentored the girls when it comes to confidence?
Caitlin: I did do a
short lesson for middle school aged girls at my church on self-confidence
because, quite frankly, middle school sucks. Girls are changing so much-- we’re awkward, and we’ve got acne and braces. So, at the workshop, I brought my camera with
me and told the girls to just let go. They didn’t have to be models; they just had to be themselves.
Dani: You
don’t
wear a whole lot of makeup as a general rule. What is your daily beauty routine
like?
Caitlin: Ermmm. I like to have clear skin, so I use
Epiduo and moisturizer everyday. But for makeup, I just put on mascara. I like
for people to see me as I am. And I could never do as good a job as you.

Dani: Aw. I love
you!!! What
about clothing? Do you have a go-to outfit? The one that always puts you in a
good mood when you wear it?
Caitlin: Anything with heels!!! I love being extra
tall, they make my legs look great, and I feel like I rule the world in 5-inch
heels.

Dani: You’ve traveled
the world a bit. Was there any particular country whose beauty ideals really
captured you?
Caitlin: Well, China's
style is haphazard, mismatched, and colorful. I kind of liked the
whimsical nature of it all. Then in Ireland, tights with short shorts and
combat boots were really popular when I was over there. As a result, I wear a
lot of outfits with tights and combat boots, but with skater skirts instead of
shorts. But, I will always be in love with New York street style. It’s so sleek and sophisticated.
Dani: Finally,
what is the one thing you wish you could tell every teenage girl who struggles
with her confidence?
Caitlin: I’d like to tell girls to find their own type of confidence. That may
sound odd, but I have a quiet type of confidence. It’s like picking foundation, except you’re picking a type of confidence to fit your personality.
Regardless of what you do, stand tall and keep your head up!
So very proud of Caitlin. She is a beautiful young lady inside and out
