It's a good thing to count your blessings.
You've seen many folks doing the Blessing Jar thing, right?Well, last year (2014) I did one. Here I explain why and how you can do it too.
D-I-Y Difficulty Scale: 1
The Concept
Throughout the year, deliberately make note of blessings as they happen. At the end of the year, or the start of a new one, set aside time to read through each piece of paper and remember the blessings of the past year. Take time to thank God or reflect spiritually for each of them.
How To Start Your Blessing Jar
- Get a large jar or container. Preferable the jar is clear so you can see it fill up throughout the year. (My mom uses a vase.)
- Place your blessing jar in a visible location and keep it there all year long. (I keep mine by my bedside, so that I can see it every night before I go to sleep.)
- Place a pen and a notepad, with pen next to the jar.
- As soon as possible after you experience a blessing, write it down. As soon as you are near your blessing jar, place the paper into the jar. Each blessing is written on its own card or piece of paper.
- At the end of the year, set aside an hour or so to read through each blessing.
Sooo...will you try it? Let us know.
