NEW PRODUCT ALERT!
You guys remember Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Well General Mills recently launched a new cereal product called Tiny Toast. It comes in Strawberry and Blueberry flavors, and I picked up both at my local Kroger to test it out on my most honest taste-tester - my nephew.
The taste test.
My eight year-old nephew was eager to try Tiny Toast when I brought them to the house. He selected the Blueberry flavor for our taste test. I let him open the box and pour his bowl, and he immediately remarked on the size of the toast. He couldn't stop giggling at them. I first noticed the fresh smell of the blueberry powder. It didn't have that artificial odor.
My nephew started eating the cereal without milk as a snack. He said that he'll eat them "the normal" way tomorrow, but for now, he enjoyed snacking on Tiny Toast dry. I went in to see what he meant, and it's true- Tiny Toast can be a nice an handy snack, especially if you need something on the go!

Is it healthy?
We all know that the “fun” cereal can be high in sugar, low in fiber and protein and not really sustaining enough to keep you through lunch. However, these miniature toasts offer a different kind of sweetness. Tiny Toast's sweet taste isn’t from artificial flavors or sugars, but rather from real fruit powders —blueberry or strawberry. It uses whole grain oats, and no high-fructose corn syrup, with only 9 grams of sugar for a serving size of ¾ cup, which is about 120 calories. However, one serving only provides 1 gram of fiber and 2 grams of protein. So that’s not very filling. So it’s a step in the right direction to letting the kiddos eat fun stuff for breakfast, but you may want to throw in a hard boiled egg or banana on the side.
