More behind the scenes action that I know you all love.
I got a sneak peek hard hat tour of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture.I decided to vlog the trip to get you excited about it.
From the outside's artistic "corona" to all of the exhibits that feature Oprah -
to date, the museum has collected more than 36,000 artifacts!
I wasn't kidding! Here's a look at the installation of the set from the Oprah show. |
That also means many exhibitions will evoke emotions from slavery to freedom. One in particular is where Emmett Till's mother (who is still with us) tells her story.
You'll journey from slavery to freedom, to President Barack Obama's inauguration through today.
I imagine it will take at least three hours. I recommend eating before, bringing a hanky for your tears, and a mindset to soak up all of the magic that is African American.
Part of the official Smithsonian team building the museum, taking us on our tour. |
The designers of the museum knew just what they were doing, because once you complete the journey through the musuem there is a reflecting pool. Guests are encouraged to sit as long as they want to digest what they've experienced.
NMAAHC opens on September 24, 2016. The best part about the Smithsonian (and most museums in DC) is that it is free to the public. So all you have to do now is book your ticket to the Nation's Capital!
