The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute in Rosman, NC invited a
very select group of officials, scientists, representatives of NASA and NOAA, journalists and amateur astronomers from around the world to experience the once-in-a-lifetime eclipse from the path of totality in western North Carolina.
Established in 1962, NASA chose this scenic location in Transylvania County to establish the East Coast satellite tracking station. This was when the U.S. Space program was very new.
50 years later, NASA has returned to PARI, and the it is no coincidence that it’s for the total solar eclipse.

This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Literally, once-in-our-lifetime. This is the first total solar eclipse to cross the entire United States in almost 100 years.
And now, the equipment is better and of course, scientists are going crazy!
So, yeah! When I got the invite, there was no choice as to where I would experience the event.
